The four-day Biennial Science Popularization Resources Exhibition took place at the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum. The event was sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and organized by both the Popularization of Science Department of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology and the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding offered multiple panda exhibits and books during the convention. The magazine Giant Panda,a supplement to Sichuan Animal as awarded the title of High Quality Scientific Recourse.

On October 23 local date in the United States,twin cubs born to giant panda Lun Lun at Zoo Atlanta turned 100 days old. After voting by both the American and Chinese public the cubs were officially named Mei Lun and Mei Huan.

On the afternoon of October 24, the last team in Lingguan, Baoxing county returned to the county seat,marking the end of fieldwork for the 4th Sichuan Provincial Giant Panda Census. The survey team began to compile the summary reports and submitted their investigation findings to the State Forestry Administration.

In mid-November, Professor Mario J. Perez Jimenez from Spain and 15 other experts who were attending the Second Asian Conference on Membrane Computing (ACMC2013) visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and conducted a lecture on ecological modeling. Professor J.Perez-Jimenez met with researchers at the Chengdu panda base and gave valuable
suggestions on future ecological research at the base.

In October 2013, Dr. John Spotila, Vice President of GLOBAL CAUSE Foundation in U.S., Ms. Sheri Yi,CFO of GLOBAL CAUSE Foundation in U.S., Dr.James Spotila, an American expert on environmental science,physiology biophysics and biology and the other two personnel made a friendly visit to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The two parties had communication and discussion about the cooperation projects on giant pandas biophysical ecology.

In early November, Mr. Wu Changxin academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Yang Da from the Animal Science Department from the University of Minnesota paid a visit to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. They gave a superb presentation and convened wide researchers at the panda base.

A Taiwan website (http://tw.kimo.com ) announced that Yuan Zai, a giant panda cub, was voted in second place for the top 10 news figure for 2013. The cub was bore in Taipei and is not yet available for public viewing.

In mid-December, the first giant panda art installation appeared at the Chengdu International Finance Square, which connects Hongxing Road Pedestrian Street and Metro Chunxi Road Station. The huge pandas 15m tall and is surrounded by a dozen unique 40cm-tall white panda sculptures, each designed by internationally renowned artists and celebrities. The smaller sculptures will be auctioned at a public charity event and all proceeds donated to the Dujiangyan Giant Panda Disease Prevention Center of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda.
