===Highlights of Mount Emei

Buddhism Resort

Mount Emei is one of the four Buddhism mountains, which is famous at home and abroad for “Buddhism Resort”and “Bodhisattva and Temples”. At the middle of 1st century AD, Buddhism was transported to Mount Emei from India through the south Silk Road, and Pugong established Puguang Temple at Jinding. At 3rd century AD, Buddha belief became popular among the mountain. Chinese monks established Puxian Temple (Wannian Temple nowadays) under the Guanxin Slope, and it becomes Buddha Temple till today. In Mount Emei tourist spot, there are over 30 temples,including eight famous temples: Baoguo Temple, Fuhu Temple, Qingyin Pavilion, Wannian Temple, Hong Chunping, Xianfeng Temple, Xixiang Pool and Huazang Temple. All these temples are like shining gems embedded on Mount Emei, presenting the profound history of Buddhist culture of Mount Emei.

Mount Emei is always covered by green trees all year round, and the average temperature difference is 14℃ between the top and the foot of the mountain. There is a saying, “there are four seasons on the mountain and the weather is changing in different altitude.”Additionally, due to the low clouds, heavy frost and rich rainfalls, it is the kingdom of various plants and animals. There are over 5000 kinds of plants, equaling the total amount of plants in Europe. In the dark valley, the light can be partly visible and partly invisible, which somehow scatter in darkness. Buddhist takes it as “Saint Light”(thousands of clear light for Budhisattva), which is much harder to be seen than “Buddha Light”. There are other places besides Jinding for tourists to enjoy “Saint Light”, like Lingyan Temple, Fuhu Temple, Hua Yanding, and Xixiang Pool, but the best choice is Jinding. Appreciate Time: dark night without moon (the end or the beginning of the month in lunar calendar), or after raining

==Special recommendation

Sunrise at Jinding The sun rises while the bell in the temple is ringing. The sky before dawn is beautiful. Gradually, horizon line can be seen, a plume of red rays floating, holding several golden rimmed clouds. A brilliant daylight is approaching. Under the colorful clouds, on the boundless and blue-purple sky, suddenly, showing a little purple-red color, and gradually, a round and red sun rises slowly from the skyline. With the sunrise from the east and morning rays full of the sky, thousands of golden light shedding on the ground, Mount Emei wears a golden coat from the bottom to the top, and presents its whole beautiful body. Buddha Light When a tourist stand on Jinding, against the sun, and surrounded by clouds in the front sky, he or she can see a ring which is red outside and purple inside, and in the middle there will be the figure of the tourist. People moves, and the figure also moves. If people leave, the ring also disappears. This is called Buddha Light. Even though there are thousands of tourists standing together, they can only see their own figure in the ring, strangely, so Buddha Light is also called “Mount Emei Treasure Light”. Emei Martial Art Emei martial art, Shaolin martial art and Wudang martial art are three schools of Chinese martial arts. From which, Emei martial art has been 2500 years of history, which is the earliest martial art. The name of Emei martial art is from Mount Emei, originated from Spring and Autumn Warring Periods, and prevailing from Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty of about 500 years. ==Clothing Tips

In Mount Emei tourist spot, the temperature difference of different altitude is very obvious, which is about 14℃ between the top and the foot of the mountain. There are obviously four seasons under the altitude of 2000 M, just like other parts in China, and so is the clothing tips. The temperature on the middle of the mountain is comparatively low, but tourists will not feel cold when they climb the mountain. However, at altitude of high mountain over 2000 M, there are only spring and autumn. The average temperature at Jinding in summer is from 8 to 10 ℃, so tourists need outfits for spring and autumn. If they want to enjoy the sunrise, they need thicker clothes. In winter, the temperature can be as low as -20℃, so tourists should wear thick and warm coats (there are coats for renting on the top of the mountain).

Hospital E’Shan Town Hospital Address: South Mingshan Road in E’Shan Town Contact: 0833—5523140 Tour Security Tips for watching monkey: Wild Monkey Area is near Qingyin Pavilion, One Skyline, Hongchun Valley, Jiulao Cave, and Xixiang Pool. Monkeys are very familiar with tourists, so they are not afraid of tourists, walking among people, and asking food for tourists. It’s said that if you want to feed monkey, you should put food on your hand and throw it to monkey or wait for monkey getting it, then you should clap hands which means you are out of food. If you take food from your bag before monkeys, after feeding you should show monkeys the bottom of the bag to show you are out of food, or, monkeys will come to search your bag! After entering the Monkey Area, tourists should not touch them, watch them, challenge them, or never ever touch cute little monkeys because big monkeys will hurt you. Do not bring valuable stuff with you, if you have to, remember to catch it tightly, because monkeys sometimes will rob it and hang it on the high tree. If monkeys come to you, do not scream, calm down. When you are on the path in Monkey Area, whether you come to feed monkey or just pass by, you should pretend to be calm, never show fear to them, because monkeys are fond of bullying the weak. They will not satisfied with your food, and come to search your bag, or hang you handbag and camera on the branch. If you meet into this situation, you should ask staff in the area to help you. Emei monkeys like girls, every time when they see female tourists wearing colorful clothes, monkeys will play with them. Thus, females wearing colorful clothes do not play monkeys, and never walk through monkey area alone. You’d better go with others or be escorted by staff there. Monkeys are merely afraid of one thing---sticks. When staff come to drive monkeys away, they knock the stick on the ground and monkeys will run away. So bringing a stick with you is very important. 2-Day Leshan Buddha & Emei Shan Tour 01/04/2016 - 01/01/2020

per person$0.00
Journey to the heart of Chinese Buddhism with visits to Dafo (the Giant Buddha) and Emei Shan (Mt. Emei). Dafo, at 71 m (233 ft) in height, is the world's largest stone-carved Buddha. Cut from the cliffs of Lingyun Shan and looming over the meeting of the Min and Dadu rivers and facing distant Emei Shan, the 400-year old world wonder is a sight to behold. Emei Shan itself is one of China's holiest mountains, and its mist-shrouded peaks, forested slopes, Buddhist temples, well-worn paths and winding stone stairs have drawn countless pilgrims over the centuries.
