Highlights:

Jiuzhaigou is spectacular all year round but come summer time, its mountainous slopes are dotted with a rainbow of colorful flowers. These delicate blooms are the perfect compliment to the fairytale sights of Jiuzhaigou Valley and Huanglong where crystal pools of turquoise and blue, rushing waterfalls and out-of-this world limestone formations await. On the way there and back, witness more of Sichuan’s stunning scenery as you pass through Aba Prefecture and its traditional Tibetan and Qiang minority villages

Itinerary:

Day 1 Chengdu arrival

Your guide will meet you on arrival at the Chengdu Airport (look for him or her holding a ATC sign) and transfer you to your hotel.

Overnight at the Furong Leading Hotel.

Day 2 Chengdu-Jiuzhaigou

In the morning you will travel to Jiuzhaigou along the picturesque road known as the Jiuzhaigou East Line. Pass through Mianying, one of the most important cities in eastern Sichuan before taking in the gorgeous countryside surrounding two other important cities, Jiangyou and Pingwu, en route.

Break for lunch at a local restaurant on the way and arrive in Jiuzhaigou late afternoon.

Dinner will be at your Jiuzhaigou Gesang hotel.

Day 3 Jiuzhaigou

Today you’ll spend a full day exploring the fairytale landscapes of Jiuzhaigou Park. Once inside, board an eco-friendly bus to visit the riot of colors and amazing assortment of crystal clear lakes, turquoise streams and many spectacular waterfalls found there, including Pearl Beach, Rhinoceros Lake, Five Color Lake and Shuzheng Waterfall. From the powerful rushing waterfalls to tranquil, glass-like lakes and magnificent blooming summer flowers, the beauty of nature is everywhere.

Break for lunch in a local restaurant in the park.

Dinner will be at your Jiuzhaigou Gesang hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 4 Jiuzhaigou-Huanglong-Maoxian

In the morning you will head from Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong, another scenic area famed for its spectacular mountain landscapes, colorful pools amid surreal limestone formations, rushing waterfalls and hot springs. Huanglong is also home to a diverse range of flora and fauna and many types of endangered animals, including the giant panda and the Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkey. Spend the day exploring the valley’s unique geological landscapes and lush, primeval forests.

Lunch and dinner will be at a local restaurant and you’ll overnight at a Maoxian County Hotel.

Day 5 Maoxian-Chengdu

Set out for Chengdu in the morning, once again passing through Sichuan’s incredibly picturesque scenery.

Scattered across the hillsides are traditional Tibetan villages with their flying eaves, splashes of color and shining white stupas and the fortress like dwellings of the Qiang minority. Many of these squat, stone and wood buildings were destroyed in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake but have since been rebuilt in the same traditional style.

Break for lunch in a local restaurant along the way.

Arrive in Chengdu at about 6:00 p.m., and be dropped off at the airport or your Chengdu hotel.
